Back to School...

Summer is already at it's end! I can't believe school is already starting back up!! That being said...our Big Man C is starting school on Monday! I wanted to make him something special where he lives in Utah and will be starting school without us there to see him off. I thought and thought of something to make or buy or do. I have seen chalkboard tables, plates, frames and such so I decided to do something of the sort! Here is what I came up with :) Enjoy!

{Clipboard Chalkboard}

Item's Needed:

1- Regular sized chalkboard

1-Can of Rust-Oleum Chalkboard spray

Paint of your choice

Paint brush

Coordinating Scrapbook Paper

Coordinating Ribbon and Buttons

Mod Podge

File

4-5 sheets of cardstock and masking tape

Razor Blade

Step 1: Start by painting your clipboard, this can be a tricky process with the "clip" part but

paint slowly around it and it can be done!! :) You will have to do 2-3 coats!

Step 2: After your clipboard drys really well...tape off the size of square that you want to be the "chalkboard" part of the clipboard. I used the cardstock and masking tape for this and it worked great :)

Step 3: Take and shake your can of chalkboard paint as instructed...then spray even strokes back and forth overlapping a bit until you sprayed the whole area. Let it sit for 3-5 mins and then repeat this 3 times.

Step 4: After the 3rd spray...let it sit for 5-10 mins and then carefully pull of your tape and paper...it may bleed a tiny bit but you can easily touch it up with paint :) Let the chalkboard spray dry for at least 24 hrs!!
Step 5: Measure your scrapbook paper on the bottom of your clipboard under the chalkboard square... you can do it however much paper you want!!

Step 6: Using your Mod Podge...Mod Podge the paper to the clipboard and let it dry. After it drys I trimmed up the uneven edges with a razor blade and then filed the paper down to match up nicely with the clipboard!!

Step 7: Tie your coordinating ribbon in the hole of the "clip"

Step 8: glue or mod podge on your strip of ribbon over the top of your paper and

then add your {buttons}

Step 9: Add your child's name (optional) in vinyl or paper on the bottom scrapbook strip. I added our Big Man's name to make it "his" Then you have your finished product!! I {love} it!!!

Step 10: Make a cute coordinating card...package it up if needed with a few of their favorite things. We added a box of regular chalk and a box of colored chalk and some Jolly Ranchers!! He loved it and I am so excited for him to be able to use it for his math, spelling or anything!!!

Whew!! I am back! Sorry I have been gone for so long. I took a much needed break from my "blogs"!! But I am back and just in time to share a quick easy mothers day gift idea! :)

Item's Needed:

1- large black frame with a matte for an 8x10

2- sheets of coordinating scrapbooking paper

1- colleague of words/names that define your mom (I did mine

on just a word program and turned them different ways and printed it on cardstock)

Step 1: Take your frame and take the matte out of it.

Step 2: Take your scrapbooking paper tear and cut pieces that cover the matte, mod podge them on like so (below) I didn't mod podge over the top at all they stuck on just fine:
Step 3: After it is all dry and good put the matte and your cardstock colleague back in (I had to tape the cardstock to the back of the matte to get them to stay in straight! :)

Step 4: Take your ribbon and wrap it twice around the frame and tie it in a bow to the left or right of the colleague.

Carter and his mom gave me this for Mother's Day this year and I had to share!! Super cute and easy idea. I am a {lover} of Dove chocolates and so they did the container with the words "I Dove You" on it. They did a super cute card and Carter explained that he "doved" me and that he and his mom appreciated all I do. Super nice!!! I love it!! :)

Black & Pink...

Our Sissy has had her name in the white wooden blocks up in her room for some time...but they are soo plain! So I decided to do them {black & pink} to match her room!!! They turned out sooo super cute! I love them! Here is how I did them:

Item's Needed:

White Letters for your childs name

Coordinating Scrapbook paper

Mod Podge

Paint Brush

Glue

Sanding Block

Razor Blade

Embellishments

Step 1: Take each of your letters, lay them face down on the backside of your scrapbooking paper and trace them.
Step 2: Cut all of them out.

Step 3: Do a thin layer of Mod Podge on your wooden letter and lay your paper onto the letter...press it firmly to make sure there are no air bubbles!

Step 4: Let all of them dry really well!!

Step 5: Mine weren't perfect and had to be trimmed up around the edges...so I used a Razor Blade to do so...

Step 6: Sand the edges of your block and paper to make them blend better...it also leaves a little white edge around it and is soo cute! Also if you wanted to distress them..now is the time to do it!

All sanded and ready to embellishStep 7: Do a layer of Mod podge over top every of your letters to secure the paper on

Step 8: Embellish them as you wish...buttons ribbon, and paper flowers (My new love!) (tutorial soon to show you how to make these babies)

Every letter can be the same or different...

Let them all dry very well and Enjoy!!! :)

HOP..

Easter is just a HOP, SKIP & A JUMP away from being here. As you already know I {love} wood crafts...blocks, boards anything! So I had some extra blocks in my block box and decided to do an Easter {hop} set! So me and my momma spent the afternoon makin these beauties! They turned out so cute! I love them!! So here is how I did them:

{HOP}

Items Needed:

3- 2x4x4 blocks

Easter-ish scrapbooking paper

Letters H, O, & P

Tan Paint

Distressing Ink (in my case a stamp pad)

Embellishments (ribbon, flowers, & buttons)

Mod podge

Scissors

Paint brush

Sanding block

Step 1: Take and paint your 3 blocks of wood with your tan paint
Step 2: After your blocks have dried really well...sand them down to give them the weathered look :)
Step 3: Measure and cut your Easter-ish paper into squares. I leave about a 1/2 in. border of wood around the paper. Distress your paper with your ink or stamp pad :)

Step 4: Mod podge your paper to the blocks. Don't do a super thick layer, it bubbles easily that way. Just do a thin layer on the block and lay your paper on...then press out all the air and make sure it is smooth :)

Step 5: Put your Letter H, O, & P on your blocks.

Step 6: Paint Mod Podge on the fronts of your blocks to secure it all.

Step 7: My FAVORITE step :) Embellish away. Buttons, ribbon, and flowers...whatever you want.

Step 8: Let them dry really well.

Set them on a shelf or stand and ENJOY. Aren't they super cute??!?!

Another fun/easy St. Patty's Day wood craft. If you couldn't tell already I {love} wood crafts!! They are easy and add so much! So here is one I came up with one afternoon!!! :)

Item's Needed:

5 blocks- all were scraps just different sizes

1 sheet of green St. Patty's Day scrapbooking paper

Green & White paint

Paint brush

Sanding block

Buttons/Ribbon

Scissors

Letters I R I S H printed out from Microsoft or another word program

Step 1: take your 5 blocks and paint them all white

Step 2: Cut out your letters IRISH Step 3: Trace the letters onto your green St. Patty's Day paper.
Cut them all out!

Step 4: Ink/Distress Ink or my cheap way ;) stamp pad your letters!

Step 5: Take your green paint and your paint brush... put a dot of paint on the center of the brush and streak (I'm sure there is another word for that :) your blocks.

Step 6: Ink the edges a little bit

Step 7: Mod podge your letters onto your blocks, push them down firmly and make sure there are no air bubbles! :)

Step 8: Mod podge a thin layer on top of all the letters.

Step 9: Glue a few buttons on a couple of the corners of your blocks. Add ribbon if you want!

Step 10: ENJOY :)
